About Fact Watch Africa

Fact Watch Africa is a pioneering fact-checking initiative dedicated to promoting truth, accuracy, and accountability in the digital age. Focused on combating misinformation and disinformation across the African continent, we verify claims, debunk false narratives, and provide evidence-based information on politics, health, climate, technology, and social issues. With a strong presence on social media and a network of trained fact-checkers, Fact Watch Africa empowers citizens, journalists, and institutions to make informed decisions and engage in responsible public discourse. As AI-driven propaganda and deepfakes rise ahead of critical elections and policy debates, Fact Watch Africa stands at the frontline of defending factual integrity and safeguarding democratic values.

Our Approach

At Fact Watch Africa, our mission is to provide accurate information and combat misinformation through real-time fact-checking and the publication of fact-check articles. We are dedicated to debunking myths and combating fake news by utilizing AI-powered detection tools alongside human-led verification. Our history dates back to 2024 when we were established by the newsroom at News 24/7, a media organization based in Uganda, in response to the challenge of misinformation and disinformation across the African continent. We have since become a trusted source in the fight against digital deception through partnerships with various organizations across East and Central Africa.

Our Partners
